“Valhalla” is a lemonade yellow 1957 Thompson Sea Lancer. She was manufactured by Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. at Peshtigo, Wisconsin. She has a 16’-7” centerline length and she is powered by twin 1957 Johnson 35HP outboard motors. She sits on a circa 1960 Trailcar dual axel boat trailer.

I am the third owner. When the second owner obtained her in 1960, seven miles from the Peshtigo boat factory, he brought her to the factory for a refresh paint coat. He also installed a new Evinrude 75 HP outboard motor on her transom. In 1967 he upgraded to a brand new Mercury 100 HP motor Merc 1100SS. He used the boat on Lake Michigan’s Green Bay for family leisure cruising and fishing. For the last ten years of his ownership he always brought his beloved black Labrador dog with him when fishing.

When Andreas obtained her he used her for two seasons with no changes. She, however, needed to be freshened up and he wanted to put period correct propulsion on the transom. Paint was stripped and repainted the correct lemonade yellow tone. The plywood on the front deck had areas of rot and the king plank under the deck was severely rotten. These were replaced with new wood and refinished. The two 1957 Johnson 35 HP outboard motors were “built” using seven parts motors!

“Valhalla” is used most often on Lake Minnetonka near Minneapolis, MN. However she easily tows and has been in many lakes in Minnesota and Wisconsin including excursions on Lake Superior in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
