In my 10 years of ownership, Juliet has seen some hard use Maine’s lakes, bays and sounds to the point that recently crew began complaining of getting wet feet whenever underway. While well maintained over the years, the boat’s hull had never been renewed.  The time had come so off Juliet went to the Androscoggin Wooden Boat Works last December for a little “tightening up.”

It came as no surprise that a closer look revealed that tightening up was the least of what was wanted. Decision time—burn pile or rebuild?  Not being one to willingly erase one of a diminishing number of Lymans from Earth’s waters, my heart prevailed. With full faith in the Boat Works ,and rather to the surprise of the shop crew, it was Damn the torpedos (and the check book); All ahead full—Rebuild
